Llanelli AFC Event

Below is an article about racism and the experience of attending our event that young people have produced and written in school after attending our event with Llanelli AFC

SHOW RACISM THE RED CARD

By  Nooer Butt, Oliver and Jonathan Evans.

On the 15th November, Year 7 pupils from Coedcae Secondary School went to Stebonheath Stadium for an anti-racism conference.
Simon Richards and Chris Stokes gave us different activities which taught us much more about racism and how it affects people’s lives.
We took part in lots of fun activities with educational messages about how different groups and cultures experience racism. We did many activities such as: similarities between Christianity and Islam, different ways of being racist, people who you can be racist to (e.g. Gypsy travellers, Muslims, Chinese etc.).

After watching the “Show Racism the Red Card” DVD we interviewed the guests who were, former professional player Christian Roberts and former Wales, Leeds and Llanelli player Matt Jones. The best asked question received a Show Racism the Red Card goodie bag and match tickets for an upcoming Wales match. Each pupil had a SRTRC Llanelli AFC poster signed by the players.
“It was great fun because we learnt about why racism is so bad and how we can stop it,” Jonathan Evans.
